Shelley called to say she was working on creating a flash mob for Colleen, and asked if I would help with some of the logistics...so the snowball started rolling.
Shhh... Colleen has no idea we're up to something, and we'd like to keep it that way. Help keep this a surprise, and don't mention this on social media or let it slip in her company. Use email for questions.
The live mob will be August 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. - at City of Cuernavaca Park (map below). Please arrive by 6:45, and Simon will be there to teach choreography by 6:30.
You don't have to wait to start learning the lyrics[1] or choreography[2]; and you can participate in the virtual mob[3] right now.

Colleen picked Don't Be Shy by Cat Stevens to be the song for what she believes is a totally "other" project...
Lyrics:
Don't be shy, just let your feelings roll on by
Don't wear fear or nobody will know you're there
Just lift your head, and let your feelings out instead
And don't be shy, just let your feeling roll on by
On by, on by, on by
On by, on by, on by
On by, on by, on by
You know love is better than a song
Love is where all of us belong
So don't be shy just let your feelings roll on by
Don't wear fear or nobody will know you're there
You're there, you're there, you're there
You're there, you're there, you're there
You're there, you're there, you're there
You don't be shy, just let your feelings roll on by
And don't wear fear or nobody will know you're there
Just lift your head, and let your feelings out instead
No, don't be shy, just let your feeling roll on by
On by, on by, on by
On by, on by, on by
On by, on by, on by
Simon and Kelsey have put together something very simple, and will post some guidelines in the coming days (maybe) - Simon will be at the flash mob by 6:30 for lessons and to help everyone get in step.
Inspired by others, Colleen has been talking about lip-syncing a video of her journey through cancer treatment (this is the "other" project she thinks this song is for), she doesn't know that there'll be a flash mob involved...
If you can't make it to the "live mob," you can still participate. We're going to edit together video clips of friends & family syncing to the song. The details of how this will come together are forthcoming, and will certainly evolve in the coming days.
You don't need to record the whole song, just a few seconds will work great. And your shoot location can be anywhere: a living room, a park, at work, with friends, with strangers, on top of a 14er, along the Appalachian Trail - be creative.
Don't worry about the sound, we'll overlay an audio track when editing. Though, for those musically inclined - instrumental submissions are welcome.
If the clip you create is a small file (less than a 5MB file), email it to me. If it's larger, please send me a link (using dropbox, yousendit, or some such service) - thanks.
A first, rough cut - Colleen all the way through in one take:
With enough submissions, we'll do multiple versions - director's cut, outtakes, live version, accoustic, etc.
